Home Improvement

Mommy was engaged in home improvement this weekend. She purchased a new floor covering for our bedroom! It looks just like wood, but is moppable. SOME kitties are not good at litterbox hygiene. I will not name names, but it is NOT me. Mommy also purchased some runners for our hall. They are very nice, but will look better with fur on them. I will take care of that for her. I try to help her whenever I can.

Stormy Weather

We had excitement at our house the past week. Two giant trees fell in our yard. Giselle and Carlito were on the sunporch watching birds at the time. They screamed, waking me from my nap. Mommy spent the next few days arranging for the tree service and fence repair company to come. We had fun watching them work. Carlito was stalking them from the window. I think Giselle thought the workers were giant chippies. A few bunnies were using the downed trees to hop into our backyard, where they chewed hostas. Mommy was not happy about that. Hostas must taste good. I have never eaten one, but I would try one if I got the chance. I ate a few bites of a houseplant today, but that is just not the same. I need to let Mommy know it's time to buy me some more wheatgrass.

The Chippy Hunter

My frenemy Giselle was formerly a feral kitty. Mommy adopted her in 2002. Giselle was living behind Mommy's office complex and stalking chipmunks. Mommy had been feeding Giselle, so when the complaints of chippy bodies mounted and animal control was called, Mommy rescued Giselle. It was rough for awhile, especially when Giselle "killed" our favorite toy, but we have learned to live together. She now watches chippies from our front window. Today, she and Carlito invaded the forbidden kitchen while Mommy was in the shower. They ate all of my salmon/sweet potato canned chow, and then attacked everything they could find to tear up. It was like Pirates of the Caribbean, except Giselle is plumper than Keira Knightley. The picture above was taken just before I showed her who's boss in this household....ME!!

Purr Girl

Marguerite was Barney's foster mommy. She nursed him along with her two kittens when he was rescued and brought to the pet hospital where she was living after HER rescue. Barney, Marguerite and I have been together since November 1992. After Mommy adopted me and Barney that summer, Marguerite was left alone at the pet hospital when her kittens were adopted. Just before Thanksgiving, Mommy brought Marguerite home. Marguerite is the oldest kitty in our family. She turned 16 November 1, 2007. I will be sixteen on May 1, 2008 and Barney will be sixteen on May 15, 2008. We will have lots of presents!

Marguerite is NOT a pirate, but she sure can box Carlito's ears when he gets too frisky. Mostly, she likes to sit next to Mommy and purr. Mommy calls her "Purr Girl" sometimes. Marguerite is a very tiny "tortie", as you can see.

Revenge of the Buddy

After my Mommy's evil co-workers pranked my photos in her office on April 1 (see earlier post), I just had to retaliate. As you can see, Angie's stuffed dog toys were humiliated. Bwahahaha!

I feel better today. Yesterday was annoying, as I went to the vet. Despite my best attempts to escape Dr. Jackie, she managed to get blood and (gasp!) urine samples from me. If I did not like her, I would have bitten her. After all, I AM a pirate! My creatinine had improved, but my platelet count was down 10%. This means more pills. I will go back in a month, and if I have improved, maybe I will not have to have fluids three times a week. Once or twice would be more than enough! I do not like those needles!!

I am getting Captain D's please, for dinner tonight, as a treat after my ordeal :) I guess going to the vet is not ALL bad.

April Fool

Yesterday was April Fool's Day. My mommy was pranked by her evil co-workers. Mommy's friend Sheryl did a caricature of me and my feline family. It is on the wall in Mommy's office. They defaced it by taping dog pictures over our faces. They did the same for Mommy's Hello Kitty commuter mug, and a Christmas photo of me and Barney, my brother. Grrr. I am plotting my revenge. They should be afraid.....very afraid.

Spring!

It is warm, so I am on the sunporch today. Mommy wanted me to stay in the kitchen and eat all day, but that is sooo boring. Besides, I am a pirate! Not a momma's boy!! And, I ate plenty this weekend, including some chicken tuscany canned food that my friends Martha and Eddie gave me. It was my grandma's birthday, but I got a present! It's good to be me.

La Bella Luna

I am baaack! Yes! I MUST be getting well!! I chewed the wrappers of two of Mommy's Luna Nutrition Bars. When she started to eat one this morning, she noticed the frayed edges. She just rolled her eyes. I made it up to her, by performing acrobatic feats. I ran around the top of the vertical blinds in the sunroom, traveling between two perches; then I turned around and went back. Mommy cheered for me!

The Nicest Cat in the World

My friend Barney and I have been together since August 1992. Mommy took me to the pet hospital to pick out a kitten to be my friend. The first kitten ran away from me, but when I swatted Barney, he swatted me back and we walked off together, side by side. Barney is very gentle and affectionate, but he can be naughty, with a little encouragement. After all, he participated in the chair mugging at our grandparents' house!

Easter Buddy

Yesterday was Easter. I was given special treats, but no ham. I must remember to nip the vet for telling Mommy "no ham", not even a pinch. My mommy went to my grandparents' house for dinner. I did not go, as I am still banned due to an unfortunate incident when Barney and I tore the back off a chair. It felt so good to dig my claws into that plump stuffing. Mmmm Mmmm Good!

Good Cat, Bad Cat

I was feeling frisky today, which is a reason, but no excuse for my bad behavior. I hopped out of bed while my mommy was still napping, and spotted her Laurel Burch tote (with embroidered cat theme) innocently sitting on the floor. I was drawn to the shiny beads and began to scratch. Luckily for the tote, mommy is a light sleeper, and I was promptly evicted from the bedroom. I felt guilty, but could not control myself. It was just too bright, too shiny and too THERE. I will be back to my Good Cat self tomorrow. I guess I do remember what it felt like to be Carlito's age. Sigh. Maybe I will have to be more patient with that pesky kitten.....NOT!!!! As you can see from the photo, I usually enjoy just sitting in tote bags, but sometimes, I am....

Bad Cat (for a day) Buddy

PS: Mommy must not be mad at me. She seemed happy to see me so frisky, I guess since I've been sickly lately, and am just now feeling better after MUCH medical treatment (another day's post). She went shopping and brought home my new favorite food, California Naturals, salmon with sweet potato. Yum!

Lover, Not a Biter

My "frenemy" Carlito is a small black kitten. He can sometimes be very annoying. He wants to play, so he runs up and nips us to incite chasing. All he incites in me is aggravation. My mommy read an article which suggested treatments for "biters". Personally, I am a lover, not a biter. I even have a tee-shirt that says that (a photo post for the future!). Anyway, Mommy throws a toy, Carlito chases and "kills" it, and then she rewards him with a treat. This is supposed to build his self-esteem. It seems to be working. He has not nipped anyone in three days! The link is below. I know it must be difficult for him to live in the same house with a "perfect" cat....me!! You can see me in the left background, looking annoyed at that rascal. He is cute, though, for a pest!!
